Introduction

Professional Director Inc. (PDI) is committed to protecting the privacy of your personal data collected at this website. PDI is further committed to keeping the personal information of its customers accurate, confidential, secure and private. This statement summarizes the policies of this website regarding the collection, use, and transfer of your personal data, and the security measures PDI employs to protect such data.  This Privacy Policy is designed to comply with applicable privacy legislation in Canada.

The Information We Collect

Those individuals protected by this Privacy Policy include customers and prospective customers. This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected during the course of commercial activities.

We collect information from the following visitors on our Web site: (1) from those interested in requesting information or materials from PDI; and (2) from those who purchase products.

Additional purposes for collecting personal information may be identified to an individual before or at the time of collection. However, at a minimum PDI will collect personal information for the following purposes:

How We Use and Disclose Personally-Identifying Information

Information obtained by the site is used only for the intended purposes stated at the time that the information is collected. It is PDI's policy not to sell or share your personal information for related or unrelated purposes to non-licensee third parties, unless otherwise stated at the time of collection. If at any time we decide to use personal data in a manner different from that stated as the time it was collected, we will notify you and give you a choice as to whether or not we use your information in this different manner. No notification and choice will be sought if PDI is compelled or required by applicable law, statute, regulation, ordinance, or court order to disclose personal data.

Information Security and Integrity

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain accuracy of data and ensure proper use of information, www.professionaldirector.com has put in place appropriate physical, electronic and managerial security procedures to safeguard all information collected online. In addition to requiring all users to sign in with a unique username and password (used for user authentication only), all sections of the site in which personal information is submitted or exchanged employ industry-standard SSL encryption and are authenticated by Entrust.

We will not process your personal information in a way that is incompatible with what is outlined in the Privacy Statement, and will use our best efforts to ensure that data is accurate, complete, current and reliable for its intended use. We also will use our best efforts to protect your information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction.

PDI sometimes uses the services of external firms to assist us in communicating with individuals (e.g., surveys and mail distribution) or as a means of providing more effective and efficient services to these individuals (e.g., technology support). Our external suppliers are contractually obligated to keep the information confidential, to use the information only for the purpose requested and to destroy the information when it is no longer required.  Customer information is shared with external service providers only to the extent required for the provision of such services.

Accountability

PDI collects the following personal information from individuals during the course of normal commercial activities. The information obtained includes name, business title, rank, function and general contact information, levels of interest for our services and topics, and transaction activity with PDI.

This information is used primarily to determine an individual's entitlement to PDI’s services. In addition, this information may be used to:

  • Enable individuals to tailor the presentation of our services to better meet their needs (e.g., a customized home page, selected distribution of our research reports).
  • Inform individuals about Professional Director courses, events, products and services that we believe may be of interest to them.
  • Better understand an individual’s interests in our products and services.
  • Develop, enhance or improve products and services.
  • Share delegate or participant information amongst seminar participants.

Your personal information may also be used anonymously and in the aggregate in order to put together industry, marketing and governance statistics. Used in this matter, your personal information becomes non-identifying.

PDI routinely collects anonymous, non-personal information through our Web servers. This is information that is not associated with or traced back to a specific individual. Gathered electronically, this information includes the type of Web browser used, the level of encryption a browser supports and the Internet Protocol address. This information may be used for research and analytical purposes, to examine how the Web site is being used and to determine how it can be improved.

Cookies

PDI also uses cookies. A cookie is a small piece of information that is sent to your computer when you access a Web site. There are two kinds of cookies. A session cookie is stored temporarily in your computer’s memory. A session cookie is destroyed as soon as you close your browser. A persistent cookie is a more permanent line of text that gets saved to your hard drive.

We use session cookies on PDI Web site, to allow you to gain access to a document or seminar you requested. Persistent cookies are used to store your encrypted user ID and password, so that you won’t have to type it in each time that you access the site. A persistent cookie is only set if you click on “Remember my sign-in information.”

Accuracy of Personal Information

Personal information is kept as accurate, complete and up to date as necessary for the purposes for which it is to be used. Individuals are encouraged to provide updates to their personal information as changes occur, to enable us to continue to provide services to them.  The personal information of customers can be reviewed and modified either directly on-line or by contacting our Web site administrator.

Access To Information

The website makes it easy to access the personal information you provide to PDI. You may access your own personal information at any time with your User ID and Password. If the information you provided once you registered with the site changes or needs to be amended, please follow the directions below to amend and modify such information:

  1. Log in at www.professionaldirector.com
  2. Click on 'Log In.'
  3. Enter your User ID and Password.
  4. When you have finished editing and saving your changes, be sure to review each page containing the information you modified to ensure the changes you made are accurate.

If you need further assistance in accessing and modifying your personal information, or if you no longer desire our service, we will endeavor to provide a way to correct, update, or remove your personal data. PDI retains the right to revise your submitted data only to comply with its normal formatting and categorization practices, including but not limited to slight alterations of company listings. Should you have any issues or not agree with the revised data please contact PDI.

Newsletter, Site/Service Updates, Surveys, and Contests

PDI may offer newsletters to registered and unregistered users of the site via email. If you wish to unsubscribe from a newsletter, please follow the directions at the bottom of the newsletter and you will be taken off the recipient list.

PDI will periodically send you website update information and service announcement updates via email. Because these announcements contain important information about PDI's service, as long as you remain a registered user, you will not be able to unsubscribe from these announcements. From time-to-time the site requests information from you via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is your choice and is completely voluntary as to whether to disclose information. Information requested may include contact information and demographic information. Contact information will be used to notify and award winners. Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring, improving, or enhancing the use and satisfaction of the site.
